Documenting the Right Way

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive shipping solutions, we understand the significance of accurate and efficient documentation. With SMARTT Shipping, you can effortlessly manage and generate these documents while comparing the best rates from multiple carriers, saving you time and resources.

Bill of Lading  (BOL)

A bill of lading is a legal document that outlines the terms of transportation when shipping. It acts as a contract between the shipper and the carrier, specifying details like the type and quantity of goods, their destination, and the agreed-upon responsibilities and liabilities of each party involved.

Your BOL is automatically generated in SMARTT Shipping.

Shipping Labels

A shipping label is a document or sticker that contains important information about the package being shipped. It typically includes details such as the sender’s and recipient’s addresses, tracking numbers, barcodes, and any specific instructions for delivery.

Shipping labels are automatically generated in SMARTT Shipping.

Customs / Commercial Invoice

A Commercial Invoice is not like a bill of sale or regular invoice. It includes essential information for when freight crosses the border, such as the country of origin, HS Code, customs broker, etc. It may not always be the invoice used between seller and buyer.

Dangerous Goods Declaration

A Dangerous Goods Declaration (DGD) is a critical document used in shipping to identify and communicate the presence of hazardous materials or dangerous goods in a shipment. The DGD is a legal requirement and is necessary for the safe and compliant transport of dangerous goods. A Safety Data Sheet (SDS) must also be included in a Dangerous Goods Shipment.

Packing List

A packing list is a document that itemizes the contents of a shipment, including the quantity, weight, and dimensions of each package. It helps in verifying the goods received and aids in customs clearance and claims procedures.

NAFTA

The NAFTA Certificate of Origin is only needed for shipments to another NAFTA country to qualify for preferential tariff treatment under the NAFTA rules of origin. A certificate is not needed if the shipment does not qualify for preferential treatment, or if a NAFTA claim will not be made on the imported goods.
