Today I will show you how to utilize the Pre Pay and Charge feature on our platform, SMARTT Shipping.
This feature allows you to add a markup to all of your freight costs, enabling you to generate additional revenue from your customers. With this feature, you can set a price that covers both the actual shipping expenses and an additional amount that contributes to your profit margin.
In order to turn this feature on, you will need to go to your settings page on SMARTT Shipping.
Once you are in your account settings, you can toggle on the Prepay & Charge option right here.
Now you can see a new percentage markup option has appeared. This allows you to pick the default markup percentage that you would like added to your freight. This markup can be adjusted on individual shipments as well, which we will show you shortly.
You can go as low as 5% or as high as 35%.
Once you are happy with this markup, you can select save.
Now, you will need to change the “Freight Charges” selection in the “New Shipment” tab.
Here where it says “Freight Charges” and is defaulted to “CSS bills my company discounted rates” you can change it to “Prepay & Charge”
Once this has been changed, the markup calculator will be added to your New Shipment page.
You can now go ahead and set up your shipment as normal and fetch the carrier results once you are ready. SMARTT Shipping will generate two costs for each carrier for you to review.
The first cost is what you will be invoiced from Complete Shipping Solutions assuming that no additional services are added. The second cost is the marked-up customer cost. This is what you can charge your customer. If you would like to increase or decrease this markup percentage, you can do so here.
Now you are all set to utilize this feature and simply increase your overall profit margins.
